Welcome to St Mary's RC PS, Bonnyrigg
Headteacher's Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers
At St Mary’s, we aim to provide a happy, healthy, safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment, promoting achievement for all and celebrating success. I am particularly proud of the work being done in all classes to promote the 5 Cs which reinforces the Gospel message to “treat others as you would like to be treated”. All staff work together to provide an education which is both enjoyable and challenging and which meets the needs of all of our pupils.
We embed the attributes of a Midlothian Learner in our everyday practice to help the children develop skills for learning, life and work and to help them develop as successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens.
We are committed to the holistic development of every learner and our values are underpinned by these UNCRC articles.
As part of the St David's Learning Community and ASG, we work closely with the other Catholic Primary schools in Midlothian and enjoy close links with the High School where our pupils can transition to after P7.
St Mary's RC Primary
Bonnyrigg
We were delighted to move in to our brand new school in August 2020 and are delighted that the sense of community and family that we are so proud of, has been retained in our new building. St Mary’s RC Primary is at the heart of a thriving Community in Bonnyrigg and enjoys good links with the Catholic Church of Our Lady with our Parish Priest Father Michael.
Our learners have many opportunities to have their say about what happens in the school via our many Pupil Voice groups. All learners are assigned to a School House – St Margaret’s or St Andrew’s – and have lots of opportunities to win House Points throughout the year. Reward cards recognise when your child is making progress in learning, and pupils will also be rewarded for good behaviour in school by earning green cards for their class.
On enrolment at St Mary’s you will be invited to sign up for our school App where you can keep up to date with all school news and events. Please don’t hesitate to contact the School Office if you have any queries. We very much look forward to working in partnership with you.
